Circle of Hope Perinatal Bereavement Support Program

The Circle of Hope Perinatal Bereavement Support Program provides services and support to individuals and families who are affected by a life-threatening condition in an unborn
baby or who have experienced the loss of an infant or pregnancy at any stage.

Grief experience from the loss of a baby can create overwhelming feelings of loneliness, sadness, and confusion. Unacknowledged, unmanageable, and unresolved grief can have a devastating effect on an individual or an entire family. The Circle of Hope Perinatal Bereavement Support Program works in conjunction with hospitals, healthcare organizations, physicians, perinatologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide support services, education, and community outreach to individuals and families affected by the loss of a baby during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after birth. The Program is coordinated by our professional staff. All group facilitators receive
specialized training, supervision, and ongoing education. The services offered include support groups, art therapy, and counseling.

  • Support Groups: The Perinatal Bereavement Support Program offers ongoing peer support groups:
    • Yorktown - First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, every other Wednesday from 6:00 - 7:30 PM
    • Pre-registration is required and can be arranged by calling 914.666.4228, ext. 336.
  • Art Therapy: Art therapy uses artistic materials to communicate feelings, memories, or experiences. No artistic ability is required. Art therapy allows the bereaved to safely express emotion without words and to share their creations with loved ones.
  • Counseling: Counseling provides emotional and spiritual support to families who have experienced or are anticipating a life-threatening condition with their baby.
  • Community Outreach:  Understanding of death and loss begins with education. Our Circle of Hope Perinatal Bereavement Program offers special consultation to hospitals, medical centers, and the community at large. Information and referrals is provided to families and professionals through community workshops and phone consultations.
*We are always in the process of starting new groups, if interested, please call (914) 666-4228.
